Welcoming RipFog to the Cloudability family
Today we’re thrilled to announce the acquisition of RipFog, a Portland company founded by former Jive Software chief Dave Hersh. With this acquisition we gain RipFog’s big data analytics technology and welcome a profoundly talented team to the Cloudability family.
This team, led by RipFog co-founder and former Urban Airship Chief Architect Erik Onnen, have worked for the past year and a half to solve some very interesting problems with big data. We’re excited to see how they will apply their talents and experience in the cloud cost management field as the newest members of the Cloudability family.
In 2014 we processed nearly two petabytes of raw data. Our goal at Cloudability is to help our users do more cloud faster, and the scale and complexity involved in managing their clouds is growing almost exponentially. I have no idea what the tally will be for 2015 petabytes processed but it’s going to be a lot!
Here in the Northwest we are home to the headquarters of the two largest public clouds as well as a growing number of successful startups providing the essential building blocks for a cloudy world. So we were thrilled but not too surprised when the Ripfog team chose Portland as their home. Staying local is a true vote of confidence in the future of our region’s technology base.
We’re excited about this step in our journey. The global deployment of the cloud just got a bit closer, and we look forward to bringing you even better tools to do more cloud faster.
