The actual event, from November 28th to December 2nd in Las Vegas, might seem a ways away, but it never hurts to be prepared for one of the biggest tech events of the year. Get the official details here.

Getting to and staying at re:Invent 2016

Not only should folks register to score their tickets ($1599 each), but they should also be sure to take advantage of advanced hotel booking and flight rates. AWS has a few codes on their announcement and registration site to help people get a great deal on a cheaper flight to Las Vegas and a solid rate on a room at the Venetian: Palazzo, The Wynn, or The Mirage hotels.

UPDATE, 10/11/2016: The Venetian: Palazzo is sold out, and there are limited rooms available at the Wynn or Mirage hotels. Finding a room at this point in time might require searching around the Palazzo, at hotels like Harrah’s, Treasure Island, or the Palazzo’s Intercontinental Annex, for example.

If attending as a small group, these savings can add up. It’s definitely in any potential attendee’s best interest to take advantage of these rates.

We’ll be able to start getting an idea of what to expect from a cloud cost management perspective once registration is officially open and the schedule is announced. Like in past years, we’ll be closely monitoring talks that focus on how to manage and operate a cost-efficient and optimized AWS environment. Of course, we’ll be drooling over any kind of new, cool AWS announcements.

Now that the AWS re:Invent 2016 session planner is out, we’re tracking key sessions to keep an eye on. See our recent article to learn more.

According to AWS, attendees have the opportunity to attend “mini conferences” on topics like the Internet of Things, serverless computing, security, and containers. There will be twice as many sessions as the year before (more than 400), an additional day of content, and ways to use the latest in AWS with other users during hands-on labs, hackathons, and bootcamps.

For folks wanting something different than schmoozing, re:Invent 2016 will include its first 5k run. We’ll update this article and other content as we learn more. So, stay tuned!

As a sponsor, we’ll be there to talk shop and get to know all kinds of AWS users. Schedule some time to come by our booth, grab a t-shirt, and hang out.

Last year, we identified key talks to not miss before the event, explored the Science of Saving with AWS Reserved Instances during our re:Invent presentation, and delivered recaps of each day.

The event tends to sell out quickly year after year. Register now and hopefully we’ll see you at the show!
