Amazon updates make cleaning up your tags a whole lot easier
When it comes to penny accurate cost allocation, tags are your best friend. That said, we’ve all seen what a late night dev session can do to your perfectly planned tagging schema.
Fortunately, cleaning up your tags just got a whole lot easier. AWS’s latest update to their Tag Editor now lets you search tag substrings for easy identification and tagging. Quickly identify all of those untagged instances by searching the name (such as “Contains: dev” in the example below) to find all tags within the assigned parameters, then tag them all in bulk!
Remember as you hop into this process that tagging isn’t retroactive, so you won’t be able to access historical data for resources that have been previously untagged. But this’ll certainly make staying on top of it a bit easier!
