If you want to see the benefit of the cloud in action, look no further than your nearest Startup Weekend event. Watching a hundred entrepreneurs stay up for three days building a company is impressive enough. But seeing those same companies piece together fast, flexible and scalable tech infrastructures in that time is simply amazing. And companies are taking notice.

Cloudability takes “Best in Show” at Under the Radar
April 27, 2012
When our CEO and Founder, Mat Ellis, got back into the office after the Under the Radar event he had an enormous smile on his face, and we all knew why. The day before, Under the Radar’s judges had awarded Cloudability their “Best in Show” award for the event (along with a couple other awesome awards)!
At Under the Radar, 30 hand-picked startups had an opportunity to pitch in front of a panel of top IT executives with a keen eye for hot, new startups. They weren’t just any slouch startups, either. In fact, more than half of the companies that pitch at Under the Radar events have gone on to get funded or acquired.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the judges, organizers, attendees and volunteers at the event, and a hearty “huzzah” to our CCO and co-founder, J.R. Storment for killin’ it with his pitch.
Want to see what all the fuss was about? Here’s a recording of Cloudability’s Under the Radar pitch.

Mark refers to the adage “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” but we prefer Google’s view on this: everything breaks, a.k.a. sh*t happens. Whichever cloud you select, it’s not a matter of “will it break?” but “what will you do when it does?”

Every Rackspace user just got a free Cloudability account
April 6, 2012
Rackspace users rejoice! As part of our new “Covered by Cloudability” program, every single one of Rackspace’s 175,000 users can now track unlimited Rackspace cloud spending for free on Cloudability. Why? Because, just like us, Rackspace understands that folks need to know what they’re spending and avoid any surprises.
In GigaOM’s coverage, Rackspace CTO John Engates explains, “We want them to know where their money is going, we don’t want them see the cloud in a negative light. There are a lot of parallels in personal life — a trend to monitoring your usage of electricity and other utilities. The only way to [start reducing] spending is to be able to look at the numbers.” And we couldn’t agree more. You can read the whole story on GigaOM.
